How to easily install solar panels

Installing solar panels does not have to be complicated. We have collected some tips that will make it easier.

Their is a long list of benefits that come from solar installations. Not only do solar panels increase the value of a property, they also offer an affordable way of producing, and sometimes selling, energy. In many cases, the investments quickly pays off. However, once a homeowner decides to go solar, there is a variety of things to take care of: finding the best solution, deciding on possible energy storage, finding the right manufacturer – and having the panels installed. All of this often seems more complicated than it actually is. We have collected a few tips that will make it easier to go solar so you can quickly enjoy the benefits.

Avoiding mistakes

Mistakes can be costly and should thus be avoided. A consultant will find the best installation for you, based upon the amount of space you can spare for the installation, the required number of panels based on your prior consumption, and the ideal location for the installation.

Do research first, then decide

Gain knowledge on the subject, for example by understanding the difference between a grid tie and an off grid system. This will help you find the ideal system for your home.

Find the perfect size – and the perfect system

Based upon the required size, you can calculate the amount of panels you need. The size depends on your energy consumption, which you can find at the bottom of your electricity bills. The kWh number there shows you how much energy you have used. However, bear in mind that the consumption varies in each season, and that your installation should always provide enough energy – even during cold and dark periods. Once you know your consumption, you can estimate the amount of panels you will need.

Find the money and the manufacturer – and make sure it’s done right

Now that you have an idea of what you require, start comparing different manufacturers. It’s advisable to bear in mind that local companies are often quicker when it comes to providing spare parts. Research solar subsidies, federal tax credits, state incentives, etc., to find out which help with the financing you can get. Before getting started, make sure all local buildings codes have been taken into consideration.

All of this sounds like a long list and a lot of trouble. Be assured, though, that the benefits will be worth the effort!
