Before parliament went on summer break, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) wanted to make so-called biodiversity photovoltaics possible as part of the “Solar Package I” (Solarpaket I). This approach offers a promising double benefit by expanding the area available for solar parks and promoting biodiversity.
As Portugal intends to push its solar industry, the country’s government has announced a new auction for solar projects in June or July 2019. A total 1.75 GW of new capacity will be awarded.
Germany held its first solar auction of the year and as a result, 24 bids for large-scale projects of over 750 kW were accepted, amounting to a new capacity of 178 MW. The average rate was 4,80 cents per kWh.
