As Portugal intends to push its solar industry, the country’s government has announced a new auction for solar projects in June or July 2019. A total 1.75 GW of new capacity will be awarded.
Germany held its first solar auction of the year and as a result, 24 bids for large-scale projects of over 750 kW were accepted, amounting to a new capacity of 178 MW. The average rate was 4,80 cents per kWh.
Last year the Netherlands produced 50% more solar energy than in 2017. This brought the percentage of renewables in the country‘s electricity consumption up from 15% to 17%, while the share of renewables in the total energy consumption grew from 6.6% to 7.3%.
